@Amenakin 3) Proceeding from these established logical parameters, since the objective of the hijab is that of an instrument designed for the transpiration of refraining from zuhd by mitigating the potential provocative power of female parts through concealment by such clothing, it can be argued that the hijab for the fulfillment of its purpose must be kept strictly modest. Would a commodification of the hijab not entail a contradiction of its original purpose as a modest attire?

@Amenakin 4) The transformation of the hijab into a fashion trend has implications. By indulging in the aesthetic and fashionable aspects of a hijab, and expanding such a trend into a commercial phenomenon, one's preoccupation is on the commercial value of the hijab as opposed to its significance as an item of religious worship which stems from its quality of its modesty! This might encourage development of attachments to the material aspect of the hijab - exactly the 'asceticism' you mention!

I am shia Muslim and we do the same as well, there is no difference between us during this holy month.

@Amenakin No problem my friend. Although I believe this has been asked repeatedly on many occasions, I have never seen your response to this cliche - what racial/ethnic group do you identify yourself with? You appear Persian, although I believe some form of confirmation would help ;)

@Amenakin Hello :) I'm planning to take my Shahadah soon and definitely plan to fast during Ramadan. Are menstruating women exempt from fasting? I thought I'd read that somewhere but you didn't mention it. If we are, do we have to make up the days after Ramadan is over? How do we do that?

women should have the piety you have

Lent is when Catholics fast. I thought it was them giving up something they really liked. Other types of Christians fast and pray threw out the year. I fast when I am praying about things that are of significant importance

I LOVE your channel. Youre just so funny, creative and bright! I'm not a religious person, at all. I live in the West of Scotland where Catholic and Protestants are the majority so it's lovely to hear about your life and religion....xxx

hello Amena!
my nabour is muslim and we were talking about Ramadan. and she was in such agony all the time and complaining ALL THE TIME. I asked her So why do you do this if its this bad?
she said all muslims do it to empoethize, to feel how its like for the poor muslims. thats why she did it.... she was kurdish. dont know if that has something to do with it.

Wonderful blog! I found it while searching on Yahoo News.

Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo
News? I've been trying for a while but I never seem to get there!
Cheers
